At Liberty Baking Co, our passion is to create Americana-style cakes that taste divine and serve as a timeless work of art. We believe your wedding cake starts as a centerpiece and culminates as the final meal of the evening. A perfectly sweet and heartwarming way to show loved ones just how much you appreciate their presence at this unforgettable event.

We craft each bespoke cake to reflect your individual style and taste, using clean ingredients to create nostalgic flavors that are reminiscent of childhood birthday cakes with an elevated flavor profile. As an artist, Alison creates clean and timeless designs utilizing styles and elements that effortlessly create movement and visual intrigue without being heavy or overly literal. Alison prides herself on using natural elements such as farm fresh flowers, natural wafer paper, and buttercream to create stunning works of art.

One of our favorite parts was our tasting where we were greeted with an entire box of cake to taste (A BOX!) and a scorecard. Game ON! Not only did they work with us to bring our design to life, but it was also insanely tasty!   • Working with Liberty Baking Co. was perfect. First of all, Alison is hilarious and just fun to work with. Second, they make beautiful, delicious cakes. My fiancé had a specific idea of what he wanted our cake to look like and these ladies did a wonderful job of making it look beautiful. Plus, they added a fun dog themed surprise to the back of the cake. Definitely work with Liberty Baking if you have the opportunity!

GENERAL FAQS

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? 

We are located in Fairfax, VA at 10782 Fairfax Blvd. 

WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS? 

We are open for pickups Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10am-2pm. 

CAN I WALK-IN AND BUY YOUR CAKES AND DESSERTS? 

Liberty is a pre-order only shop. We do not have anything ready-made for you to come and  purchase. We do host pop-ups occasionally where you can come and purchase our treats  without ordering in advance! Check us out on Instagram and/or subscribe to our newsletter for  those updates! 

WHAT IS THE LEAD-TIME FOR CAKE ORDERS? 

All orders are cut-off Sunday the week before pickup. We prefer as much notice as you can give us, no order is too early! Sometimes, we book out in advance. We appreciate your patience and understanding, as we only have two people working in the kitchen!

DO YOU MAKE CUSTOM SPECIAL OCCASION CAKES? 

Liberty no longer offers the service of fully-customized cakes. Instead, we have a shop full of semi customizable cakes we know you will love. We find that overcomplicating the design can compromise the integrity of the cake on the inside and afterall it's what's on the inside that matters the most. The cake you receive from us will be delicious and satisfying, as well as beautiful! 

WHAT DOES YOUR CAKE TASTE LIKE? 

We pride ourselves on using only the best ingredients to make truly delicious and memorable  cakes. Most of our cakes are poundcake, which is more moist and velvety than other cakes. Our cakes are made rich with cream cheese frostings and naturally moist cakes using a high fat european butter. They won't be super light but they are noticeably delicious. 

I HAVE A NUT-ALLERGY. CAN I STILL EAT YOUR CAKE? 

Although some of our items do include nuts, we are meticulous about cleanliness and avoiding  cross-contamination, so you can absolutely still enjoy our cakes! We also use nut-free almond  extract, so you can even enjoy our Almond Pound Cake! 

DO YOU OFFER VEGAN OR GLUTEN-FREE CAKES? 

We don’t currently offer vegan or gluten-free cakes.  

HOW SHOULD I STORE MY CAKE? 

If you’re picking up your cake a day or two in advance, pop it in the refrigerator until 3-4 hours  before it will be enjoyed. It is crucial that your cake comes back to room temperature for optimal enjoyment! 

DO YOU DELIVER? 

We offer delivery for weddings with food orders of $800 or more. Unfortunately, we do not offer delivery on our special occasion cakes.

DO YOU SHIP ANY OF YOUR DESSERTS? 

We do not offer any shipping in the months of May through September, as the weather in this  area is too hot and would ruin our delicate cakes and fillings. The rest of the year, we can offer  shipping on our cake tasting boxes for wedding cake clients on a case-by-case basis within the DMV area. If you’re interested in this service, please contact us directly.  

WHAT IF I AM RUNNING LATE FOR A PICK UP?

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY? 

All special occasion cakes are paid for in full at the time the order is confirmed. Clients have the  ability to cancel either cakes up to seven days before the order is to be picked up. Within the  seven day period, Liberty Baking Co. retains the right to keep payment(s) rendered. Please  remember, we are a small local business with only two people working in the kitchen. It helps us  to serve you delicious cakes when we can properly plan our production for the week.  

CAN I MODIFY MY ORDER ONCE IT IS PLACED? 

Some details are able to be changed up until a day or two before your cake is picked up. Other  details might not be changeable. Shoot us an email, and we’ll do what we can to accommodate! 

WEDDING FAQS

CAN I SCHEDULE A TASTING WITH YOU? 

We do not offer in-person tastings. All of our tastings can be ordered in our online shop and are packaged to-go for you to enjoy them at your leisure. When it’s time to talk details, Alison is happy to do that with you over a video call! 

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO BOOK MY CAKE? 

This depends heavily on when you are getting married! Certain months (like April, May,  September, and October) tend to book far in advance. Other times of year, we might not be  booked out. The best thing you can do is book your cake as soon as you are able so that we  can be sure to reserve your date. The average booking time frame is 4 to 8 months in advance.

HOW IS MY WEDDING CAKE PRICED? 

Wedding cakes are priced based on the number of servings and the complexity of the design.  We are always happy to give you a full breakdown of each charge on your proposal, just ask! 

WHEN DO YOU NEED MY FINAL GUEST COUNT? 

We prefer to have all of the details finalized one month before your event. We will check in with you at the two month and one month mark.

DO YOU HAVE GLUTEN-FREE OPTIONS? 

We don’t offer a gluten-free cake option, but we do have gluten-free dessert bar options! We  have brown butter rice krispy treats, peanut butter cookies, dark chocolate chip cookies, and french macarons that are gluten-free and need to be ordered by the dozen. 

DO YOU HAVE VEGAN OPTIONS? 

We do not have any vegan options at this time. 

WHAT AREAS ARE WITHIN YOUR DELIVERY RADIUS? 

We deliver all over the DMV. Pricing for delivery will vary on the time and distance from our  kitchen in Fairfax, VA and can range anywhere from $50.00 to $250.00. 

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE DELIVERY FEE? 

Delivery includes the safe transportation of your beautiful wedding cake. Each driver is equipped with a “patch-kit” and the details of your design to ensure any bumps along the way are noticeable. We will gladly unbox your wedding cake and set it up for display when we arrive. We will arrange any florals or cake toppers that have been discussed before the date of the event. We do not provide trays or setup for dessert bar items. Good news! Your caterer already has these things, and they will be onsite for your whole event, so it’s easier for everyone!

WHEN IS MY DEPOSIT DUE? 

We require a 50% deposit at the time of booking. Until this deposit is paid, the date is not  booked and can be lost. 

WHEN IS FINAL PAYMENT DUE? 

Wedding cake payments are due in full by one week before the date of the event.
